Artivive. Well, what’s going on here? This is a screenshot of Artivive, while augmenting the reality as displayed on my computer screen – showing a photo of a painting by Paul Delvaux at Albertina in Vienna. Of course, the original intent is to use your mobile phone or tablet while exploring the museum. Surprising - fun - interactive – if the piece of art has been prepared to be animated with Artivive.

How to create a very special and unique login screen:
1) Launch a space station /phew, this is done.
2) Tune into the live video feed – for instance at ISS Webcam
3) Get the upper video into full screen and landscape mode.
4) Gaze in awe until you fall in love with the current view.
5) Take a screenshot and use it as your lock screen wallpaper.
6) As a kicker, you can follow TheRealBuzz and wait until he shows up on your screen in space. Epic!
Between 1987 and 1988 Apple has created a couple of vision videos under the common research theme Knowledge Navigator. Of course, Knowledge Navigator and Future Shock are most famous; but there are about 10 others short clips which illustrate additional concepts. Note that these are created in the pre-Web and pre-tablet era.
Below is a video that features Steve Wozniak, Diane Ravich (then director of Encyclopædia Britannica <sic!>), Alan Kay and the authors Ray Bradbury and Alvin Toffler. They are dreaming about the future – our present. Although the technology today seems capable to deliver on this vision, I suppose we have some work left to do you adjust our tools in a way to really support it.

Danke für den Beitrag auf produktbezogen: Ab auf die große Bühne! Warum es sich lohnt, Vorträge zu halten.
Seit bald 18 Jahren läuft der UX Roundtable Hamburg auf dieser Basis: Von uns für uns. Was für den einen Kollegen normaler Alltag ist, ist für die Zuhörer und Teilnehmer oft ein spannender Einblick in die Methoden und Ansichten des Referenten. Ich will damit sagen, dass es gar nicht so schwer ist ein Thema zu finden.
Alle anderen Punkte kann ich unterstreichen; insb. lernt man selbst viel mehr, als man je vermutet hätte. Es ist also eine wirkliche Win-Win-Situation.
Bei kleineren Firmen ist die Gelegenheit zu Vorträgen in diesem Sinne nicht immer gegeben (Man kennt sich ja eh schon gut.) Da hängt es an der gelebten Firmenkultur, ob man so eine interne Vortragsserie etablieren kann. Bei Sun hatte ich damals die Friday-Ten-O’Clock Meetings ins Leben gerufen. Gewisse Rituale machen es allen leichter, die etwas exponierte Situation besser einzuschätzen.
Für Mitarbeiter von kleinen Firmen oder für Freelancer, oder für Leute, deren Kollegen 9 Zeitzonen entfernt arbeiten, sind lokale Treffen auch eine Gelegenheit nicht fachlich zu vereinsamen.
Folgende Einsicht erschließt sich auch erst mit der Zeit: Man wächst mit dem Publikum. Ein kleiner Konfi ist ein guter Start. Mit gewonnener Erfahrung und Sicherheit traut man sich dann auch die großen Events mit großen Sälen zu.
Abschließend sei erwähnt, dass wir beim UX Roundtable den Vortragenden auch ein Coaching anbieten, bei dem wir mit inhaltlichen Tipps und konstruktiver Kritik zu Struktur und Vortragsstil zu einem Gelingen der Präsentation beitragen. Weitere Speaker-Infos hier_

100.000 stars, a google chrome experiment to display and navigate our home galaxy. Star descriptions are pulled from Wikipedia. A wonderful interactive visualization of our home in the context of the milky way. Maybe I am missing something here, but the only draw-back is the fixed center of the Sun. I really would like to travel every which way through our galaxy.
